If you guys don't know my stand on cell phones, I would have to choose the Apple iPhone as my first choice. With that said I think android is a great option for smart phones, you just have to make sure you buy the right one. Some android phones don't run as smoothly because the operating system demands to much of the phone, or the opposite happens where the phone is restricted by the older versions of the android operating system. To avoid this problem you just have to do your research and the best android phone out their now is the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus!
